Prairie Sky Cohousing Community

A cohousing community designed on a 0.75 acre urban site with 18 dwelling units in a mixture of two-bedroom and three-bedroom houses, and a 3,400 sf common house.

The site chosen provides a unique opportunity to save Edmonton Trail from being turned into more strip commercial. It begins to give much needed definition to the street and for that reason it was highly supported by the local City Council.

The project presents a friendly face to a low density residential neighborhood on 30th Avenue.

One of the challenges was to design around a climate that changes drastically.
