McCamant & Durrett Architects has revolutionized the thinking around Senior Housing design and development. In 2006, Charles Durrett introduced America to Senior Cohousing through the publication of his book Senior Cohousing – A Community Approach to Independent Living – The Handbook (Habitat Press). In addition to Senior Cohousing, McCamant & Durrett Architects also designs affordable senior communities based, to varying degrees, on the cohousing model.

Senior Cohousing represents a movement where seniors, living proximate with others, cooperate to heighten their mutual quality of life and to increase their ability to live lightly on the planet.
