SILVER ECONOMY CONGRESS

On October 29th in San José, Costa Rica, you can learn about the latest proposals on topics such as healthy aging, age-friendly urban planning, and local public policies focused on senior care.

This event is hosted by the Yamuni Tabush Foundation, the Pan American Health Organization, the Costa Rican Ministry of Health, and other institutions joined forces to support the implementation of the "Age-Friendly Cities and Communities" program. Currently, 32 cantons are members of the network, receiving training and advice on the topic. Of these, the Foundation collaborates directly with three local governments: Montes de Oca, Curridabat, and Tibás, to carry out this initiative. Their work focuses on improving the quality of life of older adults. They are dedicated to providing support and advice to other organizations so they can carry out projects that benefit this group by focusing on four areas:

Strategic partnerships.

Research and action.

Direct assistance.

Age-friendly cities.

Currently, the population aged 50 and over contributes $45 trillion to global GDP, a figure that is expected to increase to $65 trillion by 2030 and reach $118 trillion by 2050. This growth is part of the Silver Economy, a concept that encompasses products and services aimed at people aged 50 and over. This trend offers a key opportunity for the financial sector to develop innovative products and services tailored to the needs of the Silver 50+ segment, which will continue to expand significantly in the coming decades. The Silver Economy is recognized as one of the most important global trends.

Charles Durrett will be a keynote speaker on the topic of senior cohousing, adapting structures and services to be accessible and inclusive, addressing the diverse needs and abilities of older adults.
